Welcome!
This page has been created for the benefit of our fellow BYU students who are interested in the Physician Assistant profession. Whether you are in the throes of the application process or just barely learning about PAs, we want to help you reach your goals.
General Information:
Much of the most useful information you will get about the PA profession and specific program requirements can be found on the internet. Below is a listing of some of the most useful sites:
PAEA Programs Directory
This might be your number one resource for deciding where you want to apply. This website provides a listing of each of the 137 accredited PA programs. $35 registration is required, or the Health Professions Office has a printed copy that you can look through in their office. It's the closest thing we have to the MSAR, but it does not provide any school-specific applicant and acceptance statistics.
American Academy of Physician Assistants
This site is the repository for all things PA. Here you will find the official definition of the role of the PA, in addition to the most current news and issues surrounding the profession. By becoming an Affiliate Member, you will receive daily email newsletters in addition to the AAPA newspaper approximately once a week. Although membership is somewhat pricey, it's a great investment for the serious pre-PA student.
Physician Assistant Education Association
This is yet more general information about the profession and links to other PA-related sites. It is also the parent site of the Programs Directory listed above. Maybe not as useful as the other sites above.
Getting into the Physician Assistant School of Your Choice
This book is an excellent resource when it comes to writing your personal statement and preparing for interviews. We can't put the book online, but it is available for purchase through almost any bookseller.
University of Utah Physician Assistant Program
This is everyone's favorite school to ask about, so we have included a link to their website. It gives a detailed explanation of the admissions process and requirements for their program.
